Dynamo versatile player Oleksandr Karavaiev shared his thoughts after the 16th round UPL match against Veres in which Kyiv won a convincing 3:0 victory:
- Today we did everything we had agreed on. There were a lot of positive moments, especially in the first half. We also started to believe in ourselves because before we might not have fully realized what we were capable of. When you’re confident, you accomplish your tasks and goals and can achieve a lot more.
- The start of the match was successful for Dynamo – two quick goals. What allowed you to start the game like that?
- It was thanks to what we had agreed on. Everyone was in their position. Everyone did the job assigned to them. Everything was carried out as planned and it worked.
- In this season there have often been situations where the team takes the lead but then loses that advantage. Did that add pressure?
- No, we talked about it. We said we shouldn’t lose our balance or concentration when we’re leading. We need to increase our advantage and play more calmly.
- Today was real winter football – snow and fog. Did such weather conditions make things difficult for you?
- We’re professionals so we must adapt to any weather. We have to understand and be ready for everything.
- Andriy Yarmolenko scored his first goal after the injury today. How did you congratulate him in the locker room?
- Andriy is a legend of Ukrainian football. You know that when such a player steps onto the field, even for 5-10 minutes, he can still make a big difference. He scored a goal and was close to an assist.
He’s a player who sees the field, knows and understands what to do. When we were sitting on the bench, we were sure he would have his moment and it was just a matter of him taking it.
- The first part of the season in the championship was tough. How positive is it that you managed to go on the break with such a confident win?
- Of course every victory is positive. It’s bad that we lost a lot of points and aren’t where we wanted to be. We’ll try to make up for it.
- On Thursday Dynamo plays Noah in the Conference League. What’s the mood ahead of the match?
- Fighting spirit because there are still points to be earned for the coefficient table. It’s also a very important match. We’ll be going for the win.
