Oleksandr Karavaiev: «In the first half we took our chances and could have scored even more»

Dynamo Kyiv defender Oleksandr Karavaiev spoke with journalists in the mixed zone after the UPL Round 28 match against Kolos Kovalivka which ended in a 2:1 victory for Dynamo.

- Dynamo won today against Kolos but match turned out to be difficult. What are your impressions of the game?

- In the first half many things worked well for us. We took our chances and could have scored even more goals. Before the break opponent also had opportunities to score but Neshcheret performed brilliantly. We were determined to continue in the same way but unfortunately in the second half we lost the ball too often, and as a result opponent created many attacks near our goal. We need to play more bravely and maintain our game discipline.

- Today is an important day for Dynamo as the club celebrates its 99th anniversary…

- Yes, today is a special date for our club, and next year Dynamo will celebrate its 100th anniversary. So I want to congratulate all supporters and everyone connected with the club on this occasion.

- There is one week left before the Ukrainian Cup final against Chernihiv. How will the team prepare for that match?

- Before that we still have a league match against Poltava and it will be part of our preparation. We are dealing with a difficult schedule because right now we are playing every two or three days, then every three or four days. We need to handle this rhythm and continue taking it game by game.

- Andriy Yarmolenko scored his 122nd goal in the Ukrainian league today, moving even closer to the all-time scoring record…

- We all want Andriy to break this record as soon as possible. It would be a major event for Ukrainian football. He’s not even a striker, he’s a winger, and he also spent five years playing abroad but he’s still close to the record. That really highlights his quality.
