Dynamo Kyiv midfielder Oleksandr Pikhalonok spoke with journalists in the mixed zone after the Ukrainian Cup final against Chernihiv (3:1).
– The first half was not easy but you won. How are emotions?
– Emotions are very positive. Some may say our path was easy but I would disagree because we beat a key rival – Shakhtar. Therefore our victory in the Cup is fully deserved.
– Did winning the Ukrainian Cup help compensate for setbacks in the league?
– Maybe a little but fourth place is still unsatisfactory for us. Even second or third place could be considered a failure.
– There were a lot of fans in the stands today. What do you think about their support during the game?
– The atmosphere was fantastic today, it’s very enjoyable to play. Thanks to our fans who came from all corners of Ukraine. This victory is for them.
– How was it playing against Chernihiv today?
– They are an organized team. They didn’t just kick the ball forward but tried to play quality football. I liked that. It’s great that a First League team plays like this.
– At the end of the first half Chernihiv had a chance to take the lead. Did you hold your breath at that moment?
– Honestly, yes, because if Chernihiv had scored, anything could have happened afterwards.
– You’ve won another trophy with Dynamo. How does it feel?
– Wonderful and positive emotions. We are enjoying the moment and celebrating.
– Next season Dynamo will play in the first qualifying round of the Europa League. Have you thought about that yet?\
– Not really yet. First we need to finish this season and only after that will we think about the next one.
