Oleksandr Pikhalonok: «We’re not the only team that has such difficult matches against Karpaty»

Dynamo midfielder Oleksandr Pikhalonok briefly commented on his team’s 1:0 victory over Karpaty in Round 8 of the Ukrainian Premier League in an interview with Football Hub.

– Matches against Karpaty have always been difficult for Dynamo. Today Georgiy Bushchan made several excellent saves, helping you secure the victory. Why does this keep happening?

– Because they are a difficult opponent for us (smiles). I think we’re not the only team that has such difficult matches against Karpaty; it’s the same for all teams. Karpaty are a battling side, and it’s always difficult to play against them. As you said, Bushchan was the hero of the match for me today. Of course, Motia scored, well done to him, but Bushchan had a great game and saved a lot of shots.

– In the first half, which you watched from the bench, there seemed to be some uncertainty in your play on the ball. What would you attribute that to?

– I think Karpaty pressed us well. We were under pressure, which led to turnovers.

– This is your third consecutive league victory. How much of an impact does that have psychologically? There was a lot of criticism, but now you’re going through such a positive period...

– Of course, it’s great. We’ll try to keep winning. When you win, it’s also much easier to prepare for the next matches.

– Will you give Zhora any special congratulations?

– We’ll see now (laughs).
