Dynamo midfielder Oleksandr Yatsyk shared his thoughts on the recent international break and spoke about the upcoming match against Karpaty in Round 22 of the Ukrainian Premier League.
– The international break has come to an end. How was it for you?
– The break went great. We had three days off, then we got back together, worked well and played a friendly match against Polissia. I think we prepared very well and are now getting ready for the game against Karpaty.
– Did you have time to miss official matches?
– Honestly, not really (smiles). We had a friendly game even though it wasn’t official. And with three days off there wasn’t that much time to rest.
– The team started the second part of the season very confidently, winning all six matches played. Did you want to keep playing without stopping or was this break necessary to catch your breath?
– I think the break was necessary to rest, regain strength and prepare for important matches with new emotions.
– National team players have already returned. In particular Matvii Ponomarenko made his debut for the Ukrainian national team and scored a goal. Have you already congratulated him in the team?
– Everyone congratulated Matvii on his debut and his first goal. We’re all very happy for him. We hope this goal will help him continue scoring as many as possible.
– The history of matches between Dynamo and Karpaty is quite long and includes many games. Is there extra motivation against this opponent?
– We know that matches against Karpaty and teams from Lviv in general are always tough. We will be focused on achieving a positive result in this game.
– In the first round Dynamo drew 3:3 with Karpaty in a high-scoring match. Are you determined to get revenge?
– Of course, when points are taken from us, it’s not very pleasant and we want to make it right.
