Olexiy MYKHAILYCHENKO: “The more Dynamo school trainees we have the better team spirit will be”

- This year famous players Valentyn Belkevych, Andriy Bal, Andriy Husin, Viktor Serebrianykov passed away…

- This year made us revise our views as it was really tragic for Dynamo family. Our friends passed away too soon. They weren’t just players, but also fathers and husbands. Still we must be strong to go through this. Memory of them should be cherished. They’ll never be forgotten…

- Let’s get back to football. How can you estimate the first half of the season for Dynamo?

- I think it was quite a success not because we were lucky, but because we deserved that. Of course there were some failures and unexpected results, but that’s also part of football. At the moment Dynamo are the domestic league leaders, but this doesn’t mean anything so far. On European arena we suffered only one defeat against Aalborg BK. Foreign players have adapted to Kyiv and Ukrainian Premier League.

- Dynamo president Ihor Surkis has praised scouts for finding performers, who make a strong contribution into development of the team…

- As I’ve said, it took foreign players some time to adapt. Scouts’ work is very difficult, especially in our country today. It’s hardly possible to guarantee that this or that performer will get used to our league. Of course we can’t always sign anyone we want. As a rule we have three-four candidates for each position. Our philosophy is as follows: if we invite foreigner, he must be much better than Ukrainian player.

- It’s also great that foreigners haven’t left Dynamo despite the situation in Ukraine…

- When player joins the new club he must know what his new team’s aims are. FC Dynamo Kyiv always struggle for top places. We must do justice to president and coaching staff for creating good atmosphere in the team.

- Winter break is a very important period for your department. What goals have been set for you?

- As a rule serious teams don’t conduct extraordinary transfers during the winter break. This period is important as players have more time to adapt to Dynamo than in summer. Besides we must consider the situation in Ukraine, which doesn’t favour negotiations with foreigners. Still we do our best to accomplish tasks that we have.

- How difficult is it to persuade a foreigner to move to Ukraine? As a rule they have families, who aren’t willing to live here…

- Usually opinion of family is of great importance for players. Not many agree to move here with their wife, kids or parents.

- On the other hand Lukasz Teodorczyk has mentioned that his family didn’t want him to join Dynamo, but he came to Kyiv and later told that there’s nothing to be afraid of here…

- That’s great. It’s important that foreign performers tell journalists that our club creates proper conditions for them and that they are safe here. We believe that we’ll find a player, who’ll be willing to join our team this winter.

- Many players state that as Serhiy Rebrov took charge of the team they started enjoying the game. What changes have you noticed?

- First of all positive results give enjoyment. Of course Dynamo play has changed, but we’ve made only first steps and there’s still a lot we should work on. I also think that the more Dynamo school trainees we have the better team spirit will be.

- Josep Guardiola says that no matter how the team plays there’s always a moment when it’s necessary to make a decisive step. Dynamo are to preserve leadership after winter break, which is very difficult…

- That’s right, everyone knows that. I hope fans will support the team. The pressure players experience will keep increasing. We must stay focused on our aim.
