People heard these words at Dynamo Stadium for decades. They were told by Olena Huts. All generations of Kyiv supporters know her voice. She used to be a famous gymnast and then worked for 50 years (!) as public announcer at home matches of the club she can’t imagine her life without.
- When a kid I lived in front of Dynamo Stadium. By the way, today there’s Professional Football League office in that house. Children from our neighborhood actually grew up at the stadium. In October of 1945 I joined Dynamo sports society as gymnast. It has turned out that was a decision for live… I’m satisfied with that.
- You went in for gymnastics when you were older then ten. Today 6-7-year-old girls do that…
- Today it sounds ridiculous, but times were different. We had a great coach Yukhym Faktorov. In 1950 I was called-up to the USSR national team. I still remember 1952 Olympic Games in Helsinki. I was sure I would be in the main squad, but right before the competition I was substituted with girl from Moscow… Never the less I think my sports career was a success. I won the USSR championship several times. I’ve seen a lot of countries and made new friends due to sports.
- How come you came across football?
- When we had free time we spent it at the native stadium and always supported our football team. We were a big family in Dynamo.
- After finishing your career you started coaching, but then you changed your profession and became public announcer…
- I finished my career in 1961 and worked as coach for 11 years. I had to give it up due to hand injury. I was asked to be the public announcer for the first time in August of 1960. It was a Soviet Top League match with the participation of Dynamo. Since then I stayed in front of the microphone for years.
- What can you say about todays Dynamo?
- I love them and always wish Dynamo victories! My endless love to this team will never die. Shortly before his death famous commentator Kote Makharadze presented me with his book and said: “I’m sure your voice sounds so great because you love Dynamo”. I’m looking forward for new matches and wins as I’m living one live with Dynamo.
