Dynamo U19 midfielder Pavlo Lyusin summed up the Round 18 Ukrainian U19 League match against Epitsentr (8:1).
– A great match for Dynamo – a confident 8:1 victory over Epitsentr. What are your overall first impressions of today’s game?
– Thank you for congratulations! Great impressions – we won 8:1. I scored a brace and I’m very happy about that. The team prepared well during the training camp. We went out and showed the result we wanted.
– From the very first minutes the team played actively and attacked. Was it the head coach’s instruction to press from the start and secure the result early?
– Yes, the head coach instructed us to press – wherever the ball was we had to have a numerical advantage there. If we lost the ball we had to win it back immediately.
– You scored twice today. The second goal, especially, was spectacular – a backheel finish. Tell us more about that moment. What was going through your mind?
– I wasn’t really thinking about anything special. Just about turning, shooting and that’s it.
– How much confidence does such a convincing win give the team for the upcoming matches?
– It’s always great to win the first match of the second part of the season. It gives you the motivation to keep playing and winning.
– Last week you were in Italy with the Ukraine U18 national team. Does that experience give you extra confidence on the pitch? What was that week like for you?
– International tournaments are always a good experience. The level is different – it’s more interesting, movements are quicker and decisions with the ball have to be made faster.
– Recently we’ve seen quite a few U19 players moving up to Dynamo’s first team. Do you follow their progress? Does that add motivation for you to perform well?
– Yes, it definitely gives motivation. I want to play better for the U19 team so that I get noticed by the first team and gradually move up to play there.
