The Champions League 3rd qualifying round second leg between Rangers FC and FC Dynamo Kyiv will be refereed by the Italian team with 43-year-old Marco Guida in charge.
Marco was born on June 7 1981 in the legendary city of Pompeii.
He began refereeing when he was 15 in the lower regional leagues. In 2002/03 season he made it into the Italian Serie D. Late in 2006/07 season he got promoted to Serie C while in June of 2009 was included into Serie A and B referees list. Thus Guida has been refereeing Serie A since 2010. In 2014 he became FIFA referee.
Guida made his international debut in July of 2014, refereeing the Europa League qualifier between the Bulgarian side Botev and the Austrian St. Pölten. In October of 2018, he made his debut at the group stage of the Europa League in the match between Rosenborg and RB Leipzig.
In April 2024, Guida was chosen to referee the Euro 2024 in Germany. He showed 8 yellow cards in two group stage games – Portugal vs Czech Republic (2:1) and France vs Poland (1:1).
Last season the Italian was the referee in 5 Champions League games, where he showed 17 yellow cards. He has a reputation of a liberal referee.
Marko has already met Dynamo. In September 2021, Kyivans lost against Bayern Munich away in the Champions League group stage game – 0:5.
As you know, Dynamo will face Rangers in Glasgow on Tuesday, August 13. The game will take place at the Hampden Park. Kick-off – 21:45 Kyiv time.
