He’s mentioned that the team achieved that significant success for Ukraine even though the country didn’t exist on the political map of the world at that moment.
“FC Dynamo Kyiv supporters were Ukrainians not formally, but due to patriotic football feelings. We were really proud that those awards were taken to Kyiv”, – said the President.
The head of our state has said that tradition of patriotism has been saved by the offspring of those fans – FC Dynamo Kyiv ultras, who demonstrated their position during the revolution on Maidan. “Despite traditional struggles fans have decided to protect Ukraine together”.
Petro Poroshenko has stressed that today Ukraine is still a great football country. “Names of Valeriy Lobanovskyi, Oleh Blokhin, Mykhailo Fomenko, Andriy Shevchenko, Serhiy Rebrov, Olexandr Shovkovskyi, Andriy Yarmolenko and others prove that Ukrainian football will always be glorious”.
UEFA vice-president Ihor Surkis, football legends Volodymyr Muntian and Leonid Buriak, who were present at the meeting, handed the President two shirts.
