Roman Eremenko joined Dynamo

Last week FC Dynamo Kyiv have signed Udinese midfielder Roman Eremenko on a one-year loan. A Russian-born Finnish footballer is a son of former FC Dynamo Moscow and FC Spartak Moscow player Alexei Eremenko Sr.. Dynamo official site correspondent decided to find out interesting facts regarding Roman’s biography and football career.

- Roman, how did it happen that you are here?

- Everything happened very quickly. My agent phoned me and told about Dynamo’s interest in me. I agreed. At that moment I wanted to try something new. Dynamo was a good variant for me. It's a famous European club which takes part in the Champions League every year.

- You moved to Italy at the age of 18. What was your parents' reaction like?

- Actually, my father is a footballer too. So, he realized it was necessary for my future career. That is why I agreed almost immediately when I was offered the chance to join the Italian football club.

- Your family deals with sport too…

- Yes, that's true. My elder brother plays for FC Saturn in the Russian Premier League. My younger brother is only 9, but he's already dreaming of becoming a football player. As for our mother, she used to be a gymnast. She always supports us and worries about us.

- Can you say a few words about the Finnish national team?

- I moved to Finland with my family at the age of three and was granted Finnish citizenship in 2003. So, I'm very glad to play for this country. I was invited to the Russian national team too, but I made a decision to play for Finland.
