Dynamo's hopes of lifting the Ukrainian Premier League trophy for the fourteenth time were dashed after a narrow 1-0 loss to FC Shakhtar Donetsk at the Donbas Arena on Wednesday evening.
Valeriy Gazzaev’s men travelled to the East of Ukraine knowing that nothing less than a victory would do to keep their title defence alive, but Ilsinho's 15th-minute strike condemned the visitors to their third but fatal defeat of the season.
Thanks to the victory Shakhtar secured an unassailable six-point lead at the top of the league table with just one match left to play. That means that Dynamo have to make do with silver medals this season.
