Stal A – Dynamo – 2:3. Match report

Artem Milevskyy came on as a substitute and struck two goals for the White-Blues in a hard-fought 3-2 win over Stal Alchevsk that sees Dynamo march into the Ukrainian Cup semifinal.

The White-Blues went into the match against first division side Stal as the favorites, but their sluggish first-half display left much to be desired. The team didn’t create much danger in front of the opponents’ goal and even contrived to concede minutes before the break. However, the introduction of Artem Milevskyy proved the turning point in a game. With the second half only four minutes old forward lobbed the ball over Stal defence and goalkeeper to tie the score 1-1.

Just a couple of minutes later the score became 2-1 thanks to an own goal from Yevhen Odyntsov. The right-sided midfielder headed the ball into his own net as he tried to clear Magrao’s lofted pass. He had a chance to make amends for his error seconds later, but his volley flew high above the crossbar. Then, in the 60th minute, Milevskyy capitalised on a defensive error to grab his second of the game. The opponents didn’t want to give up, and Roman Loktionov made it 3-2 in stoppage time, but it proved to be too late for anything more.
