Ukrainian Super Cup 2020. Shakhtar – Dynamo – 1:3. Report

For the first time ever the Super Cup took place at the NSC Olimpiyskyi in Kyiv. It was played behind closed doors due to quarantine restrictions.

The match was especially intriguing as Dynamo new coach Mircea Lucescu faced Shakhtar he was in charge of for 12 years.

Romanian specialist made only one substitution in the starting lineup comparing with the game against FC Olimpik Donetsk – Rodrigues replaced Tsytaishvili in the right wing.

Shakhtar took the game under control quickly. Dodo was especially active and caused the White-Blues problems. He put some decent crosses and attempted himself, but Bushchan coped with his strike.

Still Kyivans managed to open the score. Rodrigues appeared with the ball on the right side, passed to Sydorchuk, who put a cross into the penalty area and de Pena headed the ball in – 1:0.

Ten minutes later Dynamo doubled the score. Rodrigues obtained the ball, approached the box and noticed that Piatov rushed forward a bit, so he hit the target with a chip – 2:0!

Shakhtar pulled one back soon. Tete put a cross into the box and Moraes made it 2:1 with a header. Right before the break Donetsk side could equalize, but Tete hit the bar.

After the break the situation on the field didn’t change a lot. Shakhtar were mostly in possession and attacked a lot, but didn’t create a lot of really dangerous opportunities.

Meanwhile Mircea Lucescu’s men were patient and used another chance. In the 83rd minute Andriyevskyi got the ball on the left side, put a cross and Sol headed the ball in.

Shakhtar coach substituted centre backs with attacking players, but that wasn’t beneficial for his team. So it’s 3:1. Dynamo win the 9th Ukrainian Super Cup and 64th trophy in their history.
