Dynamo defender Taras Mykhavko commented in an interview with Football Hub on the first home game of the Ukrainian championship in the new season against Kolos and the White and Blues' 2:1 victory.
– Of course, our task today was to win. We only arrived yesterday afternoon after the match against Qarabag in the Conference League. Of course, we would have liked to have had more time to recover, but there is no point in complaining. We were heading home with one task – to win.
– There was an episode when you ran, probably, 50-60 meters. You don't often see such a run from a central defender. But your teammate didn't convert the chance at that moment. You had quite an emotional reaction. Can you comment on this episode?
– What is there to comment on? Motia (Matvii Ponomarenko. – Editor's note) didn't score. But it seems to me that there was still a slight offside in this episode. It's football and emotions. In no way am I angry with him. It's just that at that moment, after such a run, I wanted the ball to end up in the net. It didn't happen. The main thing is that we won, and we move forward.
– Kolos gave you the ball, especially in the first half. Did you ever think about trying to shoot from long range?
– To be honest, I always have such a thought when the opposing team sits deep. I prefer open football, when there is space, when you can make a pass and move with the ball. But for today's game, Kolos chose exactly this style, and they have the right to do so. They played compactly, sat deep, they are not an easy team.
You saw that they counterattacked very well. Perhaps we lacked freshness in some moments, and sometimes we could have missed their counterattacks. One of them probably led to the conceded goal. But that's football, anything can happen. So the main thing is that after such a difficult journey and tough European matches, especially with a negative result, we were able to win today in the end – that was exactly the task we had.
