Dynamo defender Taras Mykhavko commented on the match against Lviv side Karpaty, in which the White-Blues secured a narrow 1:0 home victory.
– Of course, it was a difficult match. Karpaty are a good team that deserves attention. It really was a tough game. There’s nothing more to add – thank God we won. We move forward.
– Last season’s match against Karpaty left a bitter aftertaste because Ponomarenko’s goal was disallowed and there was a sending-off. Did you have any particular sporting motivation to avenge that defeat?
– Yes, of course, we were fired up. At the same time, we had to be careful not to make the same mistakes again and get a red card. In general, that competitive edge should be present in every match, regardless of the opponent. You always have to give your maximum.
– This time it was a Karpaty player who was sent off. Shortly afterwards Ponomarenko scored. Did that make it easier to play?
– No, I wouldn’t say it became easier. The game was tense, Karpaty played well, and the tension remained until the final minutes.
– It is always difficult for teams to return to club football after international matches. People say these games are a real test for the coach. How was it this time, especially considering the lengthy break?
– Every match is difficult in its own way. I don’t know whether it really is harder to play after an international break, because everyone may have their own opinion on the matter. But today’s match was certainly difficult, so there isn’t much more to add.
