Taras Mykhavko: “First half was completely ours”

Dynamo Kyiv central defender Taras Mykhavko shared his thoughts with Football Hub after the 2:1 victory over Kolos Kovalivka.

- Today you had a very good start, scoring two quick goals. But later Kolos managed to improve and create problems for you. Why did the team’s performance drop?

- Indeed, first half was completely ours. In the second half, before we conceded, there was a long period of chaos, and of course it affected us. I think everyone knows - if team is losing 0:2 and pulls one goal back, they become emotionally stronger. They run more, attack more and everything starts working for them… Kolos created many chances and we could easily have conceded a second goal as well. We played uncertainly after the break. I don’t know exactly what caused it… But thank God we won. It was a good match. Kolos are also a very good team so this game definitely deserves attention.

- Neshcheret was constantly organizing the defense during set pieces and said the cover wasn’t working properly. Were there communication problems during set plays?

- Maybe, yes, because for certain reasons our set-piece coach was absent today. But I think it mainly came from ourselves - in some situations we simply failed to sort things out properly. But again, we need to review and analyze this match because there were both good and bad moments. So yes, this game deserves careful attention and we need to move forward because ahead of us… well, you know yourselves what’s ahead.

- Does the fact that a major match is coming up next week put pressure on the team subconsciously?

- No, every match is the main one for us. That’s what coach always tells us. Today’s game was important because it was for points - Kolos could have caught up with us and were close to us in the standings, so we needed all three points. Today’s game was important, just like the next one will be, so we’ll continue taking it match by match.
