On Tuesday, January 24, FC Dynamo Kyiv played the first friendly at the training camp in Turkey – against the Austrian side SK Rapid Wien.
First games after long winter break are always tough, but Mircea Lucescu’s men started pretty well. Sydorchuk sent the ball next to the post from the box line, then Lonwijk missed just a bit with a header.
Meanwhile Rapid used their first opportunity. In the 13th minute Strunz crossed into the penalty are, Zabarnyi tried to clear, but hit the own goal – 0:1.
The White-Blues maintained possession, but couldn’t convert that into scoring chances, while Rapid increased the lead in the 32nd minute. After pass from the left side Burgstaller scored from close range – 0:2.
Being two goals behind Dynamo had to increase the speed. Zabarnyi missed with a header after corner, then goalkeeper parried the powerful strike by Lonwijk.
Early in the second half Wien side made it 0:3. Rapid skipper Burgstaller hit the upper V accurately.
The White-Blues had a great chance to score their first goal in 2023 afterwards. Voloshyn attempted decently, but goalkeeper did a great job again.
In the 80th minute Rapid won a free kick and Knasmüllner made it 0:4 spectacularly from 20-meter distance.
So, Dynamo start the 2023 training camp with bitter defeat, but there’re more games ahead to correct the mistakes.
