On Tuesday 31 March, Ukraine U-21 team played a friendly match against Northern Ireland which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Ukraine U-21 coach Pavlo Yakovenko fielded an experimental squad as several injured players couldn't take part in the match. As a result, the Blue-Yellow started the game not very confidently. Nonetheless, despite the Irish team's dominance, the first goal came from Yevhen Konoplyanka. The forward netted from the spot after Dynamo player Roman Zozulya was brought dawn in the area.
There was even more pressure from the home side in the second half but keeper Anton Kanibolotskiy made a number of interventions to prevent the goal. The hosts did not give up, however, and managed to score a deserved equaliser on 72 minutes when Wycombe Wanderers defender Casement found the target by heading Martin Donnelly’s free-kick.
