- Unai, how come you arrived in Kyiv?
- I was invited by Vicente Gomez, who works with Dynamo youth teams. Last season was quite a success for Dynamo U-21 and U-19, so the main squad coaching staff decided to hire foreign specialist for U-19 team in particular.
- What was so special about Dynamo offer that made you leave the post of teacher at the Centre for sports education?
- First of all I’m really willing to work alongside such people as Serhiy Rebrov, Raul Riancho and Vicente Gomez. That will be a step forward for me. I used to work with Athletic Bilbao youth.
- What are your duties in Dynamo? Who are your assistants?
- I’ve been invited to Dynamo as U-19 coach. Next season this team will perform in the UEFA Youth League. My assistants will be Ihor Kostiuk and Serhiy Shmatovalenko. One more coach will be responsible for players’ physical conditions.
- What are your first impressions of Kyiv and Dynamo?
- My impressions are positive. I’ve got hearty welcome at the club and I enjoy working. Kyiv is really a European city. By the way, my family has come to Ukraine with me.
