Unexpected defeat in Lithuania

The Ukrainian national team returned home with a rather unexpected 2-0 defeat from Lithuania in a UEFA Euro 2008 qualifier.

The opener came from Mantas Savenas, who took advantage of Chyhrynsskyy’s mistake, and sent a pinpoint 12-meter kick. Ukrainian goalkeeper Oleksandr Shovkovskyy picked up an injury in the episode and asked for a sub.

Lithuania’s second goal arrived in the next half through the Bologna striker Danilevicius, who lobbed the ball over Andriy Pyatov.

With two goals conceded, Ukrainians were no threatening attacking force.

Dynamo players involved in the game: Vladyslav Vashchuk, Ruslan Rotan, Oleh Husyev, Oleksandr Shovkovskyy (substituted in the 44th minute), Artem Milevskyy (came a sub in the 69th minute).
