FC Dynamo Kyiv hosted FC Karpaty Lviv in the Ukrainian Premier League matchday 18 game.
Kyivans started aggressively and had a chance to open the score in the first minute. After cross from the left side, Yarmolenko headed the ball towards the six-yard box line, Karpaty defender Miroshnichenko handled it, but the referee didn’t award penalty even after checking with VAR.
Then Vanat attempted with a header after corner, but goalkeeper grabbed the ball after rebound. In a few minutes Yarmolenko finished rapid attack one-touch, but the ball went over the bar.
Home side maintained possession while visitors counted on fast counterattacks. In one of the episodes Krasnopir rushed towards Dynamo goal, but Popov wasn’t inferior to him in terms of speed and reached the ball with a tackle.
Mykhavko had probably Dynamo best scoring opportunity in the first half. In the 32nd minute Kyiv side defender almost netted the ball from close range, but visitors were lucky.
So, the first half ended goalless while early in the second one Karpaty created a great chance. Teammates found Krasnopir in space, who aimed at the far corner from inside the box, but missed.
Dynamo responded with the goal. Buialskyi put a cross into the penalty area, Vanat didn’t reach the ball, but Mykhailenko did and sent it into the corner – 1:0.
The goal relieved the tension in the actions of Oleksandr Shovkovskyi’s men, but Lviv side gradually took control of the ball and began to create danger. In particular, Ocheretko almost hit the corner from distance, but the ball went wide. Sych crossed into the box from the right side, where Kostenko attempted twice, but missed.
Anyway, Dynamo doubled the score in the 75th minute. Mykhailenko intercepted in the midfield, passed to Vivcharenko, who found Vanat. Vladyslav eluded Jean Pedroso and hit the fat corner – 2:0. This is his 40th UPL goal!
In the 77th minute teammates sent Voloshyn one-on-one with the keeper, but instead of passing to Vanat, who was in front of the open goal, Nazar tried to elude Kinareikin and lost the chance.
So, it’s 2:0 – Dynamo start the second part of the season win a win. Kyivans will play their next game on February 28 – against Vorskla away.
