In the 15th round of the VBET Ukrainian Premier League Dynamo Kyiv faced the newcomer to the top division, Kudrivka. The match was played in Kyiv at the Obolon Arena.
Coming into the game with a streak of four consecutive defeats Dynamo understood perfectly that they had nowhere left to retreat so it was no surprise they immediately took control. Already in the 4th minute Redushko – who impressed in the previous match against Poltava and earned another start – delivered a cross from the left flank and almost lobbed the goalkeeper but Yashkov managed to tip the ball over the bar. Moments later Bohdan had another chance but the ball slipped off his foot.
In the 10th minute visitors opened the scoring. Yatsyk sent a low ball across the box from the left side, Karavaiev headed it down to Pikhalonok, and Oleksandr struck accurately into the corner – 0:1.
Nominal hosts tried to seize the initiative and respond with attacks of their own but their final-third play was plagued by errors. In the 27th minute Voloshyn missed a great chance to double the lead when he burst into the box from the right but failed to beat the goalkeeper. Redushko, who reached the rebound, shot wide.
However in the 38th minute Dynamo scored their second. Karavaiev lofted the ball into the box from the right, Voloshyn attempted a one-touch lob over Yashkov and Ponomarenko reached the loose ball sending it into the net while falling – 0:2. The first half ended with inaccurate attempts from Ponomarenko and Karavaiev but Dynamo headed to the break with a comfortable lead.
After the restart Kudrivka controlled more possession but without meaningful progression. Dynamo, in turn, were in no rush to accelerate the game. The Kyiv side woke up only after conceding in the 66th minute when following a long pass into the penalty area the ball bounced off Owusu and landed perfectly for Nahnoinyi who fired into the corner unopposed – 1:2.
Hosts, encouraged by the goal, pushed forward in search of an equalizer but Dynamo cleverly moved the game away from their own box while also creating chances of their own. Guerrero headed home a Karavaiev cross from point-blank range but the goal was rightly ruled out for offside. Mykhailenko missed just wide from distance after Yatsyk’s layoff and in the final minutes Yatsyk sent Guerrero through one-on-one with a brilliant long pass but forward failed to beat Yashkov with a shot into the corner.
In stoppage time Kudrivka launched one final assault - even their goalkeeper joined the attack during a set piece. They came close when Svitiukha latched onto a knockdown near the penalty spot but sent his shot wide.
Ultimately Dynamo held on to break their unpleasant losing streak in UPL. The Kyiv side climbed to fifth place in the table and will finish the autumn-winter segment of the league season on 14 December with a home match against Veres.
