This is the second time FC Dynamo Kyiv youngsters take part in this competition. Last year Kyivans finished ninth here. The most titled team of the contest are Inter Milan with six trophies.
All 16 teams participating in the tournament were presented in front of the stage in the square. Dynamo arrived right after the opening match. Olexiy Drotsenko’s guys defeated Augsburg 2:1.
The ambassador of Ukraine in Italy, Malta and San Marino Yevhen Perelyhin told how Kyivans were invited to the contest:
- A year and a half ago I had official visit to the region of Veneto and met the mayor of Abano Terme there. He knew that football is #1 game in Ukraine and offered me to invite some Ukrainian team to the tournament the following year. I said that must be Dynamo as Dynamo are the trademark of Kyiv and Ukraine in general. When they found out that Dynamo can come here, they very glad and we started working on that.
