Dynamo U19 head coach Vadym Milko summed up the 5th round match of the U19 National League against LNZ (4:1).
- Dynamo secured a convincing victory, but the score remained level for a long time. What are your impressions of the game?
- I cannot say that it was a convincing victory. In terms of the score, yes, but the guys did not enter the game the way we wanted them to. We had a man-to-man conversation at halftime, and Dynamo came out onto the pitch as the team we want to see.
- Why was there such a difference in the team’s performance before and after the break?
- I do not think the team played significantly worse in the first half. The LNZ players’ attitude was off the charts, which I did not see from my players. We talked a lot about this game and emphasized that after Shakhtar, we would have a tough match ahead of us. There is also some blame on me here, as I failed to get through to the guys.
- Last week, Dynamo beat Shakhtar, one of the main competitors. How do you motivate the team to keep going after such victories?
- Our goal after the victory over Shakhtar was to psychologically prepare the team for the match against LNZ. We tried, but we were not able to get through to them fully. Credit must go to the opponents – in the first half, they played aggressively and confidently. But after the halftime conversation, our team came out onto the pitch completely different.
- The match ended almost an hour and a half later due to the air raid alert, after which Dynamo scored three goals. Did the break benefit the team?
- Unfortunately, we are living in such a difficult time. The air raid alert affected both teams. I want to thank the fitness coach, who prepared the guys. They came out for the warm-up earlier than planned – they wanted not just to finish the match, but to win it. I felt that we would succeed.
