The head coach of Dynamo’s youth team Vadym Milko commented on the victory over Shakhtar in the 4th round match of the National U19 League.
- It was a real derby, a real battle. We all felt emotions that are impossible to describe. The boys were simply great. After the game, I told them that after matches like these, they become real men.
- For you as a coach, this is the first such confrontation. How nervous were you before the game and directly on the football pitch?
- There is always a little nervousness - such an opponent, and many fans came. We prepared calmly, we knew who we would be playing against. We respect everyone, but we are afraid of no one.
- At the beginning of the game, the team was somewhat nervous, but we managed to quickly take the lead thanks to a precise shot by Daniel Dekhtyar. Did the goal calm the team down?
- I disagree. It was good that we scored this goal and then doubled the lead from a set piece. But during the break, my assistants and I emphasized that the result of the match had not yet been decided. At 2:0, we failed to convert a 100% chance, and after that there is always a possibility of conceding a goal. That is what happened, and therefore the ending of the match was nervous. But I repeat - I am grateful to these men for the victory today.
- The second half became more difficult for the team. In your opinion, what was the reason for the problems in the second half of the match?
- With a two-goal lead, psychology has its influence. We tried to convey to the players that they should not sit too deep, but Shakhtar forced us to play that way. I cannot say that the second half was unsuccessful for us - we had good chances, only problems arose with finishing. We will work on this.
- Towards the end of the match, the level of tension on the football pitch increased. Such a confrontation is impossible to imagine without emotions, isn't it?
- Absolutely impossible. No one wanted to lose. There were heated incidents, yellow cards. These are emotions without which it is impossible to play football.
- You celebrated your birthday a few days ago. Are you happy with the gift from the team?
- Of course, I am grateful to them for that. Thank you to the boys, the staff, our coaching staff and the coaching staff of the U21 team. Throughout the week, there was great chemistry in the team that helped us win.
