Dynamo U19 senior coach Vadym Milko commented on his team’s match against FC Kharkiv.
— The match did not go according to Dynamo’s plan – you conceded a goal and then immediately had a player sent off... Did that disrupt your game plan?
— I believe we started the game quite well and created chances. As they say, nothing seemed to foreshadow trouble... But I will not let a breach of game discipline and conceding a goal from a set piece go unaddressed. We will look at who was at fault in this situation and draw conclusions. This cannot happen. Yes, the sending-off affected the game. The course of the match was already different, and we were forced to sit deeper. But I believe that with ten men we actually played even better. I thanked the team for the second half, but when we were doing everything to score and equalise, we were not making the runs into the penalty area. That cannot happen either.
— Do you agree with the referee’s decision to show Parinov a red card?
— You know, I wouldn’t want to discuss it. That’s how he saw it... It was his decision, and we won’t argue with it. But it seemed to me that Parinov could have won the ball cleanly. We could also talk about the fact that the referees added too little stoppage time, but we won’t complain. A defeat is a defeat.
— In the episode with the conceded goal, did someone fail to deal with the player who sent the ball into the net?
— Yes, it was a set piece, and we didn’t have a player attacking the ball. This is a breach of game discipline, and we have to sort it out.
— How did the team have to reorganise in order to continue playing while down a man?
— When Parinov was sent off, Myroslav Romaniuk started playing as a centre-back alongside Konovalov. I believe he handled the position quite well, and I have no questions for him. Interestingly, he had never played in this position before, so well done to him.
— What are the team’s plans for the international break?
— We had planned to have several days off, but after a defeat like this, Pavlo Pavlovych and I will think about how best to proceed. I will always defend my players, but not for a performance like this. For me, discipline in everyday life and discipline on the pitch must come first, and I did not see that today. This really bothers me, and I will not simply leave it at that.
