Dynamo Kyiv midfielder Valentyn Rubchynskyi spoke to journalists after the sixth-round UPL match against Epitsentr (3:0).
– Can we say that Dynamo are starting to find their form after some less-than-successful results in the previous matches?
– We are going through a period when we need to overcome uncertainty in our game through victories. We need to show character and prove that we can win. I hope this victory will help us do that.
– Has the pressure been lifted from the team?
– We hadn’t won two matches in a row, so it’s nice to win today. It’s good that we managed to score three goals and keep a clean sheet. I hope this is a turning point and that we will continue to make progress.
– Was the key factor in the victory the finishing?
– I believe the key was our attitude to the game. We want our fans to be happy with our results and our performances.
– Volodymyr Brazhko was unable to help the team today, so you had to play a little deeper in midfield. How did you feel in that position?
– Volodymyr fell ill today, so the head coach asked me to replace him. It’s not the first time I’ve played in this position, but it was a little unusual.
– How did the team congratulate Andrii Yarmolenko on equalling the scoring record in the Ukrainian league?
– We’ll congratulate him when he breaks the record! (Smiles.)
– Today Dynamo won by more than one goal for the first time this season. How important is this for the team’s confidence?
– Of course, it gives us confidence. After scoring the first goal, we wanted only to increase our lead, and we could have scored a fourth as well. We didn’t want to stop at 1-0 or 2-0.
– What was the mood in the team during this difficult period?
– We talked about the need to fight for each other on the pitch and help one another, and then the result would come. Without character, victories won’t come.
– The Ukraine national team squad for the Nations League matches will be announced soon. Are you expecting a call-up?
– If it happens, I’ll be happy. Playing for the national team is every footballer’s dream.
