FC Dynamo Kyiv hosted FC Oleksandria within the Ukrainian Premier League matchday 8.
The White-Blues were getting ready for this fixture after very emotional Champions League game against SL Benfica (0:0). Besides, everyone knows that this season Oleksandria have already defeated FC Shakhtar Donetsk at the NSC Olimpiyskyi, so there was no way Mircea Lucescu’s men could underestimate visitors.
Home side started creating chances right away. Tsyhankov attempted from unpromising angle, but keeper parried it. Shkurin didn’t reach the ball after cross from the left side by de Pena.
Right before the break Tsyhankov had another great opportunity as he tried to hit the target with a volley after another cross from de Pena.
Dynamo continued attacking in the second half. Harmash, who substituted Shkurin, was quite active. Tsyhankov was looking for more chances, but Oleksandria goalkeeper had no intention to concede. Bilyk saved his team at least four times after the break.
Time was passing by and Kyivans were getting nervous. Vitinho, who made his debut for the White-Blues, could grab the winner, but didn’t. Anyway, in a stoppage time, Rybalka fouled against Harmash after cross from the corner flag and referee awarded penalty upon checking VAR. Tsyhankov converted from the spot – 1:0.
Still this wasn’t the end. There was a fight on the field with the participation of many players. Eventually Shabanov and Harmash were booked while Kyriukhantsev was sent off.
So, it’s 1:0 – very tough Dynamo victory that lets Kyivans stay three points ahead of Shakhtar.
