FC Dynamo Kyiv started the new Ukrainian Premier League season with the home match against FC Mynai.
The White-Blues won every single game against this team so far, so no wonder they rushed forward right off this time too. Andriy Yarmolenko, who’s rejoined our club after six years abroad, was in the starting lineup and had a chance in the 2nd minute, but missed and besides was flagged offside.
In return, visitors shocked Mircea Lucescu’s men. Bilovar, who was making his debut for Kyivans, cleared the ball inaccurately, Vitenchuk obtained it and hit the upper V from distance – 0:1.
Then Bilovar could make up for his mistake, but as he attempted after corner, defender blocked the shot.
Mynai moved back and totally focused on defense, but in the 27th minute the pressure from Dynamo resulted in equalizer. Sydorchuk put a long ball into the penalty area, Odariuk cleared poorly and Vanat was there to net it – 1:1.
In a couple of minutes the White-Blues stepped in front. Shaparenko dispossessed his opponent in the midfield, rushed forward, the ball went to Kabayev, Buialskyi and eventually Vanat hit the corner from a perfect position – 2:1.
It seemed that should have boosted Dynamo confidence, but 33 minutes into the game Popov fouled roughly against Odariuk after simple long ball and was sent off.
Visitors made three substitutions after the first half to enforce their attacking potential. Early in the second half Mynai had an opportunity to equalize. Bilovar cleared inaccurately again, visitors intercepted and Vyshnevskyi attempted from inside the box, but Bushchan parried. Yarmolenko was looking for a chance to score his 100th UPL goal, but Bandura did a great job too.
Still in the 56th minute Mynai keeper made a mistake as he fouled against Yarmolenko outside the penalty area and got a red card. Anyway, after the squads got even, Mynai started creating more scoring opportunities. Vyshnevskyi tried with a header after cross from the left side, but missed a bit. Then the forward unleashed a decent strike and only the skills of Bushchan saved Dynamo from troubles.
Gradually the White-Blues took the game to the attacking half. Dubinchak didn’t manage to send the ball past the goalkeeper from a tight angle, but a bit later he won a penalty for Dynamo as the opponent fouled against him inside the box. Buialskyi converted from the spot confidently – 3:1.
But even then visitors didn’t give up and could pull one back as Hechev appeared one-on-one with Bushchan, but didn’t manage to send the ball over our goalkeeper with a chip. Eventually, right before the time, home side increased the lead again. Brazhko shot from outside the penalty area, Mynai keeper parried, but Karavayev was the first one with a follow-up.
So, it’s 4:1 – Dynamo confident win and three points to start the season off.
