On Sunday, November 10, FC Dynamo Kyiv hosted FC Polissia Zhytomyr in the Ukrainian Premier League matchday 13 game.
The match started quite intensely. Visitors rushed forward straight away and had two shots on goal, but Bushchan did a good job. Zhytomyr side maintained possession while Dynamo had to play the lower profile.
Yet in the 22nd minute Vanat played one-two with Shaparenko, obtained the ball inside the box and hit the fat corner – 1:0. In a few minutes referee awarded penalty for the handball by Smoliakov. Yarmolenko converted from the spot – 2:0.
Being two goals in front Kyivans calmed things down a bit. Polissia relied on shots from distance and set pieces, but that wasn’t enough. The situation became even more complicated for Zhytomyr side as Mykhailychenko was sent off shortly before the break.
Early in the second half Dynamo could increase their lead, but neither Shaparenko nor Buialskyi succeeded while Brazhko sent the ball over the bar with a free kick.
Later Volynets saved his time after the strike by Guerrero while Tymchyk totally forgave visitors as he missed after pass from Dubinchak.
Late in the game Polissia pulled one back even despite being outnumbered. Hutsuliak got the ball inside the box after corner and didn’t miss from close range – 2:1. Afterwards Guerrero seemed to have scored, but the goal was disallowed due to offside.
So, the White-Blues succeed – 2:1. Dynamo will play their next UPL game after the international break – on Saturday, November 23, against FC Chornomorets Odesa at the home ground.
