UPL. Dynamo – Shakhtar – 0:1. Report

FC Dynamo Kyiv hosted FC Shakhtar Donetsk in the Ukrainian Premier League matchday 13 game.

Dynamo approached this match with three-game winless streak and being in the middle of the league table although having a few spare matches.

Mircea Lucescu’s men started aggressively, applied pressing in attacking half and created the first chance of the game. Brazhko attempted from distance with a powerful strike, but Matviyenko blocked the shot.

Visitors aimed to maintain possession and tried to look for opportunities in a build-up. The White-Blues focused on fast counterattacks which was quite effective in terms of scoring chances. Dubinchak shot from distance – Riznyk parried. Benito aimed at the corner after cross from Shepelev, but Riznyk saved again. And then Karavayev missed somehow from inside the box after accurate pass from Shaparenko.

Generally, Shakhtar weren’t ready for such aggressive performance by Dynamo and didn’t create much in the first half. Zubkov tried from a tight angle – Bushchan was there. Stepanenko missed from distance.

But early in the second half Shakhtar opened the score. Newerton found Zubkov inside the box and Olexandr sent the ball into the net – 0:1.

After that Dynamo weren’t as sharp as before the break. Karavayev had the best chance late in the game. After good pass from Ponomarenko, he appeared practically one-on-one with goalkeeper, but missed.

So, it’s 0:1 – Dynamo narrow defeat, who can’t beat Shakhtar in domestic league since April 2021.
