Dynamo Kyiv captain Vitaliy Buialskii, speaking live on UPL TV, commented on the confident 5:1 away victory over Rukh in the Ukrainian Premier League.
– Today players who usually get little playing time were given a chance. As captain how do you generally assess the players who helped the team achieve such a convincing win today?
– Well I guess that’s the coach’s and his staff’s job to assess. I can only say, based on the result, that the team is satisfied. The head coach and his assistants will give each player their evaluation. So I won’t talk about individual players - that wouldn’t be correct.
– You scored a goal today, once again finding the net in the UPL. What does that mean for you?
– There’s joy in scoring, of course, and it’s always a pleasure for me to play in the Dynamo Kyiv shirt.
– After the match against Cypriot side Pafos, did the team travel to Lviv in a subdued mood, or was that not the case?
– I wouldn’t say subdued. Yes, we were unhappy with the result, we missed some chances and conceded at the end of the game. But it was only the first leg - the second leg will be in Cyprus, and that’s where everything will be decided.
– Everything you didn’t score against Pafos, you put into Rukh’s net today?
– Not really, we still had more chances, and in the first half Rukh also had opportunities. We needed to be more focused defensively there. But football is made up of mistakes. The main thing is to avoid making in the next matches the mistakes we made today or in previous games.
– The next match is hugely important. Do you talk in the dressing room about the second leg against Pafos, especially with players who have a lot of experience in such fixtures?
– When you play in Dynamo Kyiv shirt, every match - even in training camps or between international breaks - your opponents come out against you as if it’s their last game. You have to play as well as you can and always be 200% focused. Because you’re playing for Dynamo Kyiv, and everyone is motivated against you as if it’s the last match of their lives.
