Dynamo winger Vladyslav Kabaiev shared his emotions after the difficult away victory over Veres (2:1) in an interview with Football Hub.
– A difficult victory, Veres put you under serious pressure. Are such matches won through character?
– This is our first game in the current Ukrainian championship. We discussed it with the guys and came to the conclusion that whenever you come here, there is always a great atmosphere, many people come, it is a city celebration, one could say, and Veres have very good support. It is always very difficult to play against them here. This team plays football and is not afraid. We can see the coach’s hand, they have their own philosophy. Good players, including those who came through the Dynamo academy, and many foreigners have also arrived. A good, well-organized team, and everything was visible on the football field, how difficult it was for us today.
– There were eight changes in the lineup today compared to the match against Qarabag. How much did this affect the team’s cohesion, perhaps some playing combinations? Were they disrupted because of the rotation?
– Now you can say a lot of things. The game shows everything. Some things worked, some things did not. I hope our best games in terms of quality and results are still ahead for both us and the fans. And we will do everything for this, regardless of who comes onto the field. After all, we are playing in two tournaments, and we really want to become champions and go as far as possible in Europe.
– After PAOK the team was really angry for Qarabag. It was clear that players were extremely motivated. Was there any discussion?
– Look, many fans criticize us, but I already wrote about this on my social media, and I can say it again. We are not stupid, we know that even when there is a result, the quality of the game needs to be improved. And when there is no result, we know that the fans expect much more from us. And even we ourselves, honestly, expect much more from ourselves, and we work very hard. This work is not visible, but when there is quality of play and character, the fans can forgive a lot, and when there is no character or some individual battles are lost, it really stands out. Of course, we discussed everything with the coach and the guys, and today, if the quality of the game was not the best, then the motivation itself was at a high level.
– How would you assess your own condition, considering that you missed quite a lot of time?
– Right now I am like a little child who has been allowed to go and play in the yard. I would like to play in the starting lineup, but I don’t know how ready I am right now. It is difficult to say, because after a seven-month break, this is the third consecutive game in which I have come on for 10 minutes. Of course, as an athlete, I want to help the team not for 10 minutes, but much more. It is up to the coach to decide, and I am ready to play from the first minutes. Of course, for me, 10 minutes today is not enough, and I told the coaching staff about this.
