Dynamo Kyiv defender Vladyslav Zakharchenko spoke to UPL TV after the home match against Kolos Kovalivka which “White-Blues” won 2:1.
- Of course, we’re happy that we won but we have to play better. We played quite well in the first half but in the second half, I don’t know why, we handed the initiative over to the opponent. So yes, we’re pleased with the victory but we still need to improve.
- Did opponent improve in the second half or did your team simply drop off?
- Of course, opponent started playing more aggressively and pressing us higher up the pitch. But maybe because we were already leading 2:0, we started thinking more about protecting the result. Because of that the initiative shifted to the opponent.
- On Saturday you have another league match and a week later an extremely important Ukrainian Cup final. Do you feel any temptation to save energy before a match that could bring the team a trophy?
- No, definitely not. We don’t have only 11 players in the squad - we have many more and everyone plays at roughly the same level. If someone spends more energy in today’s game, then in the cup match other players can come in who will be fresher, less tired and capable of showing the same level of performance.
