Dynamo’s newcomer Vladyslav Blănuță gave his first interview as a player of our club.
– Vlad, welcome to Kyiv, Ukraine and Dynamo’s training base. What are your first impressions of the city, the country and the facilities?
– Thank you! I only arrived last night so I haven’t had much time to explore. But this morning I walked around the base and was pleasantly surprised. The pitches are top class, at the Champions League level. I met some teammates and spoke with them. They’re very nice guys as are the coaches I’ve already talked to. I’m happy to be here and I want to enjoy this moment.
– Have you been to Ukraine before?
– Yes but I was just a child, about three years old. So I don’t remember much.
– What can you say about our club? Is this the biggest step of your career so far and are you happy to be here?
– At this stage - yes, this is the biggest club in my career. It’s a huge chance to prove myself. I want to make the most of this opportunity and my time here.
– What do you want to do first of all?
– I want to show Dynamo fans that I share their view on the war. russia is the aggressor and is seizing what doesn’t belong to it. That’s very sad because Ukraine is losing so many people defending its land and citizens in this unjust war. It’s not easy for me because things can be interpreted in the wrong way. I want to state clearly: I do not support russia. And I have never said anything against Ukraine. It was my mistake to repost certain things – I didn’t know who those people were or their role in russian propaganda. To me they were nobodies. When it was explained to me I realized my mistake and understood I was caught in a bad situation. I am completely pro-European and pro-Ukrainian – I stand on this side.
– How do you plan to build relationships with fans and prove the sincerity of your position?
– I will show my genuine support. If anyone has questions, I’m open to talk, I’m ready to meet with any fan and explain everything. I’ll repeat: I do not support russia. I stand with the Ukrainian people.
– Do you see this move as a chance to get into the national team?
– For any player it’s a dream to represent his national team, especially at major tournaments. But I have to go step by step. Right now my focus is on adapting quickly, improving every day, playing in every match and scoring goals – which is my main job as a striker.
– Which world-class forwards are you most similar to in terms of style?
– My idols are Haaland, Lewandowski and Ibrahimović. I’m not sure my style is similar to Ibra’s but I like his ego. In terms of play I’d say I’m closer to Haaland.
– What are your goals with Dynamo in the near future?
– First and foremost - team goals: winning the league, qualifying for the main stage of the Champions League and performing well there. Personally it’s about constant progress and taking small steps every day to improve.
