Volodymyr Brazhko: “We wanted to win for every Ukrainian”

FC Dynamo Kyiv midfielder Volodymyr Brazhko has shared his impressions of the win against FK Partizan Belgrade in the Champions League qualifier (6:2).

- We’re still very emotional as we realized whom we opposed. We wanted to score as many as possible to be ahead before the second leg. I think we did a good job, although conceded unnecessarily. We’ll keep working to preserve clean sheet in the return match.

- Partizan players played roughly, provoked, our guys got emotional in some episodes including you…

- This is football. All the aggression and emotions stay on the field. Generally I controlled myself, but in the episode with the penalty, I ran up to the referee and wanted to ask why VAR was not watched when the opponent hit me in the tibia in the 2nd minute. Honestly, I was shocked... But then I scored a goal, assisted, we scored six and I calmed down.

- It seems the first goal didn’t impact the team at all…

- We were confident. It was bitter to concede, but I felt we would score. There were lots of chances, we could score even more. I think we played well, but we’ll keep working not to concede.

- Did you feel the support of fans, who created incredible atmosphere?

- The atmosphere was great. I want to thank fans who came to support us. We also felt the charge from every fan who couldn’t come to the stadium and cheered in front of the TV screen. Of course, the focus was on the game, but the fans were pushing us forward and it was very noticeable.

- We’ve seen a lot of goals. How ready is the team physically?

- It’s up to coaches to estimate that, but I feel I can play for 90 minutes. Still they substituted me. Maybe because I had a yellow card. What matters is that we’ve won confidently.

- Do you think it was the most significant game in your career in terms of tension?

- I guess so. We wanted to score as many as possible against this opponent and win for every Ukrainian.
