Josip PIVARIC: “I take everything for granted”

He’s told about his first months with FC Dynamo Kyiv.

- As far as I know, scouts followed me for a while, so transfer offer from Kyiv side wasn’t a surprise for me. When I signed the contract with Dynamo I was happy. I know this team always aims to win domestic league and performs worthily in euro cups.

- Did you talk to Domagoj Vida before signing the contract?

- I heard only good things about Dynamo from Domagoj. He assured me I won’t have to care about anything in Kyiv except for football. I know I’m not the first Dinamo Zagreb foreign player in Kyiv.

- Usually Croatian players leave their home when they are young and move to one of top leagues. You’ve chosen different path…

- I always dreamed of featuring for my native club that opened me the way to big football. I had a long distance to cover for that. I performed for another Zagreb side on loan – Lokomotiv. After that I returned to Dinamo and played for the team for five years and a half.

- How come there’re so many talented players in your small country, who become real stars?

- Frankly speaking, it’s a mystery for everyone. Every year young stars appear in countries of former Yugoslavia. They perform successfully abroad. I guess it’s important for every youngster to have a coach, who believes in him.

- After Dinamo Zagreb Academy you performed for Lokomotiv Zagreb for four years. Didn’t Dinamo coaches want to see you in their team?

- Although I played for Lokomotiv, every year I went to training camps with Dinamo. Sometimes I was just unlucky to get injured.

- Your debut for Dynamo Kyiv wasn’t a success: you got a serious cut 7 minutes into the game against Stal and coach substituted you…

- Well, I won’t have good memories of my debut for Dynamo (smiling). The cut was really serious, so I was taken to hospital. Still that’s okay. This is football. I take everything that happens to me for granted.
