On Wednesday, November 5, Dynamo Kyiv U19 played the return leg of the UEFA Youth League Champions Path Round 2 against Swedish side Brommapojkarna.
In the first leg, held in Stalowa Wola (Poland), Dynamo claimed a narrow 1:0 win, giving them a slight advantage ahead of the return match in Stockholm.
From the opening minutes, Dynamo looked confident and quickly took control of the ball, dictating the tempo in midfield. After a few cautious exchanges visitors broke the deadlock early: Hrodzinskyi burst down the middle and laid the ball off left to Andreiko who sent a superb shot from a tight angle straight into the corner - 0:1.
The Swedes responded with several dangerous efforts but Dynamo’s defense stayed compact. Goalkeeper Surkis produced an excellent save midway through the half, tipping Pathansali’s strike over the bar.
Moments later Liusin nearly doubled the lead but his effort struck the post. Dynamo continued to look the sharper side and before halftime both Andreiko and Hrodzinskyi came close again, yet the score remained 0:1.
The second half began with Bekerskyi firing over the bar followed by a dangerous free-kick from the hosts which Surkis managed to deflect for a corner.
A golden chance came soon after when Hrodzinskyi, with the goalkeeper beaten, somehow missed the target by inches - a let-off for Brommapojkarna.
Despite wasting a series of clear opportunities Dynamo’s persistence paid off. In the 82nd minute substitute Ivaskiv finished off a move started by Andreiko, firing from a tight angle under the far post - 0:2.
Just after that Osypenko had a one-on-one chance but failed to convert. The hosts pulled one back in the 89th minute: after a cross and a headed flick by Bacteman Nilden poked the ball into the net from close range - 1:2. Dynamo held firm during added time to secure the win.
Dynamo advance to the third round of the UEFA Youth League Champions Path where they will face Hibernian (Scotland) who defeated KF 2 Korriku (Kosovo) 4:1 on aggregate (4:0 home, 0:1 away).
Next up Dynamo U19 return to domestic competition on Sunday, November 9, when they host LNZ Cherkasy in the Ukrainian U19 Championship (Round 12).
