Ayila Yussuf and Emmanuel Okoduwa’s Nigeria faced South Africa in their 2010 World Cup qualifying opener in African zone on Sunday, June 1.
Ikechukwu Uche’s first half and Obinna Nwaneri’s injury-time goals ensured their team a comfortable 2-0 victory.
Midfielder Yussuf, who had been called up for African Nations' Cup in the winter, completed initial 68 minutes of action, whilst his team-mate striker Okoduwa was not even on the bench.
Apart from South Africa, the World Cup host nation, Nigerians are potted with Equatorial Guinea and Sierra Leone in group 4 in their 2010 bid.
