The Director of the Medical Department of FC Dynamo Kyiv Andriy Shmorgun participated in a remarkable and engaging event - the 6th Summit of the Ramon Cugat Institute founded by the renowned Spanish orthopedic surgeon and traumatologist Dr. Ramon Cugat.
The congress lasted two days and gathered around 100 participants including specialists from various countries, local students, physiotherapists and others.
Andriy Shmorgun shared more details about the event:
“The medical summit took place at the Ramon Cugat Institute whose founder is a leading expert in sports medicine, particularly in knee joint reconstruction. The main topic discussed at the conference was conservative treatment of the anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments of the knee. Very interesting techniques from different parts of Europe and the world were presented and even American specialists from the Boston Institute attended.
We received very useful material that could be applied in sports medicine in Ukraine. Moreover there are already cases where this method has been successfully implemented - though, of course, it depends on the specific type of injury.
There was also a meeting with Professor Cugat during which we discussed several treatment-related issues. In addition he presented his autobiographical book and kindly gave us several copies - it’s a fascinating read. We continue to maintain strong relations with his institute.
I would also like to note that a physiotherapist from Girona FC attended the summit and delivered a report on the conservative treatment of anterior cruciate ligament injuries. We also sent greetings to our guys”
