Midfielder of Dynamo Kyiv U19 Arsenii Fedorenko, who scored a brace against Karpaty U19, shared his thoughts after the confident 5:0 victory.
– First of all congratulations on a very convincing win. What are your first impressions of today’s game?
– Thank you. Only positive impressions. A 5:0 win is very convincing, in my opinion. But we’re not stopping – there are still eight matches ahead. We’re preparing for them, we need to keep winning and wait for Shakhtar to slip up in order to become champions.
– The weather conditions were difficult today plus there was an air raid alert. How hard was it to stay focused?
– It wasn’t easy but we are professional footballers and we have to deal with it regardless of the circumstances. No one knows what will happen next – we just live and do our job.
– Today you scored your first goals of the year and immediately a brace. What do these goals mean to you?
– They are very important. In previous matches I had chances but couldn’t score. This week I worked extra on the pitch – and here’s the result. Thanks to the coach for his trust. I’ll keep working even harder.
– Do you think the opponent couldn’t recover after conceding two quick goals?
– I think early goals always help. Maybe the opponent dropped a bit while we, on the contrary, increased the pressure to finish them off. As we can see it worked.
– You went into halftime with a 3:0 lead. How did you approach the second half with such an advantage?
– We’ve had matches where we lost our advantage. For example against Veres we were leading 2:0 but ended up drawing 2:2. So no relaxation – only maximum concentration and work until the final whistle.
– Ousmane Savane scored a very nice debut goal today. Have you already congratulated him?
– Not yet, we haven’t had time. We’ll definitely congratulate him at the training base.
– Players have returned to the team from international duty. How does their experience motivate you?
– I’ve also played for the national team, but, let’s say, not everything went well there. Now I want to prove myself here, to earn more call-ups and represent my country more often on the international stage.
