Midfielder Bohdan Redushko, who netted a hat-trick in Dynamo Kyiv U19’s 7:0 win over LNZ Cherkasy in the 12th round of the National U19 League, shared his thoughts on the team’s dominant performance.
– We analyzed their games. They actually played quite well against other opponents. We didn’t expect this kind of final score but it’s great that things went our way today.
– It was 10:0 last season and now 7:0. Can LNZ be called your “favorite” team in terms of goals scored?
– I wouldn’t say so. In the first half we could’ve scored even more and that’s what the coach reminded us about at halftime – so we added a few after the break.
– You’ve been called up to the Ukraine U19 national team for the Euro qualifiers. How did that feel?
– Of course it’s an honor to represent your country internationally. We’ll prepare well and, God willing, get through this round, then return to the club and focus on finishing the autumn-winter part of the season strongly.
– Did that national team call-up inspire your hat-trick today?
– Maybe a bit (smiles). I owed something to my teammates and coaches because I missed UEFA Youth League return leg. So now I need to give my all in domestic league and score as much as possible.
– This was your first U19 league hat-trick. How did it feel?
– Last season I scored a maximum of two in one match (against Rukh – 10:0). So today, after my second goal, before the corner kick I told myself: “This one’s going in.” And it did (smiles). It feels really good to get a hat-trick – I’m very happy.
– You could’ve scored even more. How strong was the desire to keep going?
– Of course the desire was there – it always is. But today I managed only three (laughs).
– How satisfied are you with your performance and the team’s?
– I’m happy. My job is to score and assist. The defense kept a clean sheet and Slava played really well so overall I’m satisfied with how the whole team performed – both in attack and defense.
