Dynamo Kyiv U19 defender Denys Dykyi shared his thoughts after the away draw against Oleksandriia (2:2) in Matchday 21 of the U19 National League.
– It was a difficult game for Dynamo that ended with dropped points. What are your thoughts on the match?
– We need to win every match. Yes, today was a tough game and the pitch conditions were difficult. I think we lost some of the physical duels and maybe lacked the right mentality at times. But we will keep working and do everything we can to improve our situation.
– The team played a rescheduled match against Rukh on Monday so there wasn’t much time to rest and prepare. How difficult was it to switch focus for this game?
– Yes, we had a tight schedule. We prepared for it and knew what we had to do in training. We were ready for this game but we were just a bit unlucky. As I said things didn’t quite go our way.
– The team conceded twice today which hasn’t happened often this season. What went wrong defensively?
– We made some individual mistakes and allowed a few chances near our goal. We need to play tighter and avoid giving opponents those opportunities. We’ll analyze it and do everything we can to prevent this in future matches.
– Towards the end Dynamo put pressure on the opponent and had chances to take the lead again. Did you feel the team could still win it?
– Honestly, like all guys, I believed until the final minute that we could score and take the win. We were just a bit unlucky in the end.
– How painful is this result for the team?
– It’s very disappointing because we are fighting for the championship. Every single point matters to us.
– The U19 league now pauses for international matches. What are the team’s plans during the break?
– I think we’ll get a few days off to reset and then we’ll get back to work.
