FC Dynamo Kyiv head coach Mircea Lucescu has commented upon the win against SC Dnipro-1 (2:0) in the UPL matchday 12 game.
- Tough game against decent opponent. Dnipro-1 had a week to get ready for this match while we played against Barcelona and got criticized for that game a lot. It’s never easy to switch to domestic league after the Champions League. Besides, we faced one of the best UPL teams today.
The game was level in the first half. Maybe visitors were doing even better. We hurried too much which resulted in mistakes. Dnipro-1 demonstrated proper possession skills.
We had a talk after the first half and made some substitutions after which the game changed. We made visitors play the way we wanted. We made them apply pressure and attempt to dispossess us. Thus we could find space and rush into it.
Generally I’m satisfied with the game and final score. Still I remain conceived that professionals, who perform in the Champions League, must play till the end in every episode. We created a lot of chances, but used them poorly. I want to see more concentration and professionalism.
- Would Dynamo open the score in the first half if Sydorchuk, Shaparenko and Harmash were in the starting lineup?
- Every game is a separate story. I assumed we would act this way as it’s tough to play every two days. That’s why I had to make these substitutions. That was my plan.
- Dynamo are in for two away games against Mariupol. How are you going to deal with this?
- First of all it’s logistical issues. As you know, a trip to Mariupol is one of the toughest. You need to fly to Zaporizhia at first and then take a bus. After Cup tie, we have to return home as Mariupol is in red zone and we can’t stay there. In a day, we’ll have to have the same trip again. Anyway, that’s our job and we must do the best we can.
