Dynamo played first friendlies of the year 1955 in January under the charge of Oleh Oshenkov.
After success Kyivans reached in 1954 as they won the USSR Cup for the first time ever they started the new season with failures. They won the first domestic league match only within the matchday 6. That year Dynamo finished 6th in the Soviet Top League and tumbled out of the national cup in the round of 16.
Eventually veterans (Vinkovatov, Mykhalyna, Zazroev and other) left the team and new performers came instead. Yuriy Voinov deserves special attention. When 24-year-old player joined Dynamo he was already famous as he featured for FC Zenit St.Petersburg before that. Still he became a true master in Kyiv. In 1955 several youngster came to the reserve team, who won the Soviet Top League six years later – Andriy Biba, Volodymyr Anufrienko, Oleh Bazylevych, Valentyn Troianovskyi.
Players
In 1955 Oleh Serebrianskyi (performed for Dynamo from 1972 till 1975, didn’t make a single appearance for the main squad) and Volodymyr Lozynskyi were born.
The latter joined Dynamo reserve team at the age of 18. In 1976 he started featuring for the main squad. He made 225 appearances for the White-Blues in the Soviet Top League and netted 9 goals. He also has six caps to his name. Lozynskyi won the domestic league three times (1977, 1980, 1981) and the USSR Cup twice (1978, 1982). In 1977 and 1980 he triumphed in the Season Cup.
Memorable matches
The year 1955 was a failure for Dynamo in general. Still they managed two draw against FC Spartak Moscow (0:0) and defeat CBCA Moscow (3:2) in Kyiv.
