FC Dynamo Kyiv goalkeeper Heorhii Bushchan has told about his 100 UPL appearances for the White-Blues and preparations for the upcoming game against SC Dnipro-1:
- How’re you feeling after lopsided win against Polissia? What’s the atmosphere inside the team like?
- It’s all good, although I got a bit sick and spent the day off on Monday at home. The atmosphere is fine, we hope the battle for the title is still ahead. We’re four points behind with six games remaining, but I think everything is possible.
- Was game against Polissia better than the one against Mynai? Was there any criticism?
- When we win confidently, they say our opponents are weak, when we win less confidently, they criticize us. A draw equals to a defeat. I’ve got used to it. I don’t really ready comments. What matters is that we won.
- You were accompanied by children of fallen Dynamo fans before the game against Polissia. What was that like to you?
- We’ve been supporting the “Stand of heroes” charity fund for quite a while now. All clubs participate. Unfortunately, kids accompanied us for a tragic reason. I hope emotions they got will brighten their lives at least a bit.
- Was it an extra motivation for players?
- It certainly was. We sympathize with every family suffering from such a woe. We have a terrible war in our country and we demonstrate our solidarity with these families. It’s hard to believe this is happening in the 21st century. I care about that a lot.
- Did you know the game against Polissia would be your 100th in the UPL?
- I didn’t. But I know in a few games I’ll make my 150th appearance for Dynamo in all competitions. Considering how long it took me to make 100 appearances, I don’t think I played a lot. I could do better. I know I need two more careers to catch up with Oleksandr Shovkovskyi (smiling). Anyway it was nice to make my 100th UPL appearance. A lot is still ahead.
- You preserved clean sheets in half of those games. Are you satisfied with that?
- I play for Dynamo, who have best players in the country, so such number of clean sheets makes sense. I’d better focus on how much I conceded (smiling). But of course it feels good to preserve a clean sheet and win.
- Which game is especially memorable to you?
- I can mention two – my debut one and the one when we beat Inhulets and won the league.
- What was the training session mostly about today?
- This was the first session of the weekly cycle. It was mostly about emotions. We worked out at the gym, then goalkeepers worked separately. Everything was quite usual.
- What’s your favorite part of a training session?
- My favorite part is when coach says the session is over (laughing). Just kidding.
- Your next game is against Dnipro-1. What do you remember about the first round match?
- They’re good team. All teams have it difficult at their home ground. We focus only on victory. I think it will be a tough game.
- Dynamo lost 0:1 in the first round, but in the second round Dnipro-1 don’t look that good, do they?
- Every team treats the game against Dynamo as their final battle. That’s always been the case and will always be. Their shape doesn’t matter.
- They were saying this game might take place in Kyiv. Would you like that?
- I don’t think that will happen. Air raid alarms are frequent in Dnipro, so we realize the game can possibly last a couple of hours longer. I hope everything will be fine.
- This time the team has a regular one-week training cycle. Is this more usual than playing twice a week?
- People can get used to anything. We’ve got used to our schedule. That was also the case when we performed in euro cups in autumn. It’s better when you play more and practice less (smiling).
