On the eve of the Matchday 23 fixture of the Ukrainian Premier League between Metalist 1925 Kharkiv and Dynamo Kyiv the “White-Blues” players honored the memory of Mircea Lucescu. The former Dynamo head coach, who led the team to a domestic treble in the 2020/2021 season, passed away earlier this week.
Dynamo players took to the field wearing special T-shirts dedicated to Mircea Lucescu. In this way the team paid tribute to an outstanding coach who made a significant contribution to the development of both the club and Ukrainian football as a whole.
The initiative for this tribute came from FC Dynamo Kyiv. Hosts of the match, Metalist 1925, supported the gesture and joined in honoring Mircea Lucescu by also wearing special T-shirts as they entered the pitch.
This gesture is a sign of deep respect for Mircea Lucescu - a coach whose ideas and achievements are forever engraved in history in golden letters.
