41 delegates of national associations out of 54 gave their votes for Hryhoriy Surkis and thus he got four-year mandate in executive committee.
At this Congress Michel Platini was re-elected to the post of UEFA president.
Hryhoriy Surkis is sure that his appointment is tribute to our country.
“As a humble person I can just say that I’ll keep defending interests of our country as member of UEFA executive committee and vice-president of the organization”, - told Hryhoriy Surkis ТСН.ua
“I think it’s not just tribute to me, but to our country, which made a strong contribution into development of European football in 2012”, - mentioned football functionary.
He’s also stated that football is uniting force that plays very important social function.
“Peace will come and we’ll start rebuilding our economy, but life depends upon little and big feasts today. I think FC Dynamo Kyiv and FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk gladdened our fans last week. I hope our national team will do the same. There’s no doubt that better times for Ukraine will come”, - summarized Hryhoriy Surkis.
