FC Dynamo Kyiv president Ihor Surkis has commented upon the win against FC Zoria Luhansk.
- Dynamo haven’t suffered a single defeat since Oleksandr Shovkovskyi took charge. What do you think of his work?
- Shovkovskyi is doing a good job. We witnessed that in Poltava and today. The team is progressing. Everyone gets a chance to play. I hope we’ll be fighting for the title.
- Shovkovskyi has had his first training camp as head coach…
- That’s very important although we didn’t set a goal to win every game at the training camp. The goal was to work on players’ mutual understanding. Today we see the results of this work. That’s the way it should be.
- Mykola Shaparenko performed two assists today and scored in the previous game. Has he regained his best shape?
- Those who understand football know that Shaparenko is a really good player. I hope he has great future in European football. No one’s going to hold him. If we get any offers, we’ll consider those. Mykola cares about the team. It took him quite a lot of time to recover, but now he’s fine, so we’ll see him even in better shape. Such players are rare.
- What are your impressions of the game today?
- I feel positive. Guys had only a few days to recondition after 4-hour game in Poltava. Today we saw good result, spectacular football, different kinds of tactics. When we got 2:0 in front the team gave opponents space and used counterattacks. That was a really good football.
- Andriy Yarmolenko is back. Is he the player who can help Dynamo win the league?
- Yarmolenko is a person who calms things down, who knows everything on the field, who can win a game with one touch. He’s had a rough time, but he’s also reconditioning. If he keeps this up, I’m sure he’ll benefit Ukraine at the Euro.
- Today he played as attacking midfielder for some time. Was that surprising?
- Not really. He can play in any position. He’s a very smart person. I hope we’ll have a long cooperation when he finishes his career of player. But so far I want him to play and demonstrate football fans enjoy.
- Do players have enough time to recondition considering the tight schedule?
- We’ve got quite a long bench. Guys who make substitute appearances need to maintain the balance and give others some rest. Those who were subbed in today played decent football.
